Lyrics

Higher Things
written by Bryan Fox
He stood godless and firm
into the light turned he faced
he said should I believe, when
all my life you've turned hope into hate? religion stood weak
too many souls left to break
saw preachers just preach
but in their hearts he knew them just fake Down on his knees
yelled God can you
please give me faith
I'm broken and I'm not too sure
how much more I can take
I hear too many things
do this or that or its Hell
try to do good by my life
but it seems that I've failed
But you know that I know
there's things in this world I must face
to be given higher things
I can't be too sure
but it seems I'm a modern day Job
keep getting hurt doung things that I'm told With his face to the ground
he weeps while he tastes salty tears
said I need you in my life
so I'm not alone the next 40 years
felt a hand on his back
looked up to see his reflection
took a lapse back in time
before he noticed it was his son
Screamed "God it was You
who gave me my blood
I've been so damn blind
I've forgotten the important ones"
But you know that I know
there's things in this world
I must face
to be given higher things
I can't be too sure
but it seems I'm a modern day Job
keep getting hurt
doing things that I'm told
please don't wake me
I'm too sleepy
I pray this means
the good Lord's teaching me
